Residential Sewage Damage - Washington, MO

This residential water loss was located in Washington, MO. The cause of the loss was a sewage back up; the entire basement was about 75% affected with category 3 sewage water. An air scrubber was set due to category 3 sewage back up. Also because of it being a category 3 loss, all affected materials had to be removed, including the drywall 2ft from the floor and all carpet. There was a large amount of contents in storage which took about 5 hours to move into an unaffected area.

Water from sewer system backups should be considered very dangerous. The water is grossly unsanitary and may contain bacteria and viruses that could cause serious illness. Special training and equipment is necessary to safely clean this type of contamination.
