These long days and warm weather are great for spending time outside. Kids have a blast playing outside and enjoying the weather. Unfortunately, this can also mean more work for you as kids, pets and guests bring in all sorts of dirt and mess! Although you may find yourself with some extra time with an empty house while everyone is outside, so summer can be a great time for specialty cleaning projects.
Here are 6 cleaning ideas you can accomplish this year:
Pantry & Refrigerator
Start by checking the dates on foods. If its expired, throw it away! With growing kids, there can also be a lot of half eaten items that have spent some serious time on the shelves. Now is the time to purge and organize! If there’s items that you never use, but isn’t expired, it might be a good idea to just get rid of it. You can always donate the food so it doesn’t go to waste!
Clean your upholstery
When was the last time you cleaned your sofa or recliner? With the family outside playing, it can be the perfect time to get your furniture cleaned.

Clean the garage
If you park in the garage, the winter has probably left it filthy from the road dirt. If you don’t park in the garage “out of sight, out of mind” may be why it could use some serious cleaning. Take items out of the garage and into the driveway. Organize, get rid of things you don’t need or are broken. While putting things back, give everything a place. Consider overhead storage, bins, etc. to keep things tidy.
Rearrange the kids rooms
This can have a lot of benefits. Most kids will enjoy the excitement of a new arrangement of furniture. You may even consider adding some new items and getting rid of the older furniture. The major bonus of this is finding the hiding spots for dirty clothes and getting the dust and allergens that have been building up in some harder to clean places.
Clean the carpets
